Finally after a windy threat of trashing our small crop, my son and I harvested the apples off our little dwarf apple tree. It immediately occurred to me that we didn’t really have that much space in the freezer to store them all. So once they were washed, cored and peeled and the freezer was full, we were left with the only other option… make an apple crumble.
I have to confess that I had nothing to do with the baking. This was a mum and son effort and they made a great job of it. In fact, by the time I got round to taking a photo of it we’d practically demolished it.
Again another nice little “harvest” based project which was enjoyed by all the family, literally. Also, I’m finding that it’s great for the kids to see where foods come from and to develop garden / allotment skills.
